Clarification:  I told Ginny there was a vigil at the City County Bldg for Victims of Police Brutality (which was covered in today's PG showing a picture of 200 folks gathered last nite), but I did not say it was sponsored by New Voice Pgh. I don't know who put that wonderful event together (which I was unable to attend), but I did mention NVP as one of the many groups involved in the past Trayvon events.

I had not seen anything on my email about a solidarity event with the protesters in Ferguson and Michael Brown and demands for prosecution of the murder and condemnation of the police assaults, so I contacted the Thomas Merton Center, Black Voices for Peace and Mel Packer and Emily DiFerari to see if anyone knew if anything was happening and if we could support or launch an event this Saturday afternoon.

 The Thomas Merton Center I'm sure would like to support any other events already planned. If none are planned, we'd like to  join others in initiating one for Saturday, maybe in East Liberty at 1pm where Black Voices for Peace had their ten year anti-war vigil. Please contact me so that I can help to ensure our efforts are not duplicated or conflicting but are united.
