Holy cow! Didn't you hear? it's canceled.... it's been like
all over the newsgroups, and TV news.
Seems there was an accident with the fort. it seems while digging new
underground footers , they hit upon a natural gas deposit. (PA has
coal and some deposits of oil which are often accompanied by all
kinds of natural gas). Most people don't know that natural gas doesn't
even have a smell (it's added by the providers so people will
readily know when there is a leak)
It wasn't detected until a couple people passed out. When a
fellow worker saw them pass out (he thought it was from the
outrageous heat) he tossed his shovel down and it hit a rock and
of course, it sparked. Anyway, it caused a fire which quickly
lit the grass and spread across the field (they leave the hay grow
every year before pennsic, then bundle it up into bales which they
donate and sell for battles, etc) and hit the barn and several
years of creasote preservative made it go up like a gas soaked pile
of kindling. The barn is close to the houses and several of them went
up too.
Heck there was this huge anouncements like two weeks ago, they
evidently said they were thinking of canceling this year's war and
hoped they could be recovered enough for next year.
Enough of the data from pre-regs was recovered for refund checks though.

Lots of people are going to pennsic this year. You should come to some
meetings/guilds/parties sometime, we can tell you tales of making garb
the night before (oy!)
