Our children are our future, but their well-being in our society
continues to decline.
The health and safety of our children is everyone's responsibility.
Please help to ensure healthy children and families in OUR COMMUNITY by
taking ACTION as an INDIVIDUAL, GROUP, OR BUSINESS. (c) Liz & Paul
Stop Child Abuse - Save Our Children: I've been speaking out since 1975
from Donora, Pennsylvania and Portland, Oregon.
During our childhood, I and my twin sister were tormented and severely
abused for eighteen years. Our older brother and sister were NOT abused.
As a little boy, I came close to death twice, but I survived and have
been a tireless crusader for the rights of children and against child
abuse.
In 1970, I graduated from Donora High School at the age of 21 in Special
Education. I was classified as mentally slow.
I had scars on face and body from beatings -- the only child in school
with facial scars. I was placed on top of hot stove burner at age of
three. Clothes removed and beaten with a belt/stick. Tied up and beaten.
Forced fed stool, bars of soap, hot pepper. Enema treatments which you
do not want to know about. The horror of abuse goes on.
I am a survivor and not a victim. Because of my suffering, I did not
abuse myself or the society. No drugs, no gangs, no disrespect for my
parents or school teachers and, most of all, no abuse of children.
Since 1975, I have spoken out against child abuse on talk radio, open
forums, symposia, school functions, community service; through a
television commercial; through advertising in newspapers on awareness of
child abuse; through newspaper and magazine articles; through display
work and street campaigns.
I volunteer my time with other children non-profit organizations: fund
raising for disabled children, cancer, homeless, hungry, Women Space,
Christmas, child abuse.
Today, I and my wife, Liz, now live in Eugene, Oregon, where we continue
to fight for the right of children everywhere to live free from fear and
abuse.
