As a Software Engineer, you will assist in application software development efforts for basic system enhancement requests. Working from detailed specification, you will perform application system design, and application coding. Your efforts may include activities associated with the installation and modifications to packaged application software. As a Software Engineer, your responsibilities will also include system testing, system debugging and documentation of software modifications, production system problem resolution and providing off-hour support. You will interact with all members of application development, business analysis team and business service partners to successfully implement system enhancement requests. You role will also include testing and implementation support for basic business and technology projects.
This experience is designed to help you develop more complete system design and development skills. Developing business and technical knowledge to prepare for more significant project assignments and following approved systems development processes is essential to your success. Qualifications *
A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Management Information Science (MIS) or a similar area. Prior internship experience in related field preferred
Must be able to demonstrate and posses a general understanding of information technology concepts including database concepts structures, software/application development techniques, testing techniques Basic understanding of core technologies contained within the business application systems the incumbent will support. Core technologies include but are not limited to software languages (e.g., COBOL, JAVA), database technologies (e.g., DB2, Oracle), messaging technologies (e.g., MQ Series)
Readily adapt to new technologies and business practices in the work environment
Good skills with personal computer and standard office products (e.g., Word, Excel, email)
Must demonstrate appropriate level of written and verbal communication
Ability to operate effectively in a team-based organizational structure
Ability to operate in a fast paced environment
Must demonstrate ability to interact with service partners and team members on a regular basis
Good planning and organization skills
