Data Processing/Programming Responsibilities: Manages assigned staff
in the development and maintenance of information systems including
systems analysis, programming, telecommunications and computer
operations. Planning and staffing of a new Information Technologies
department to support a customer base of approximately 200 research
engineers. Initial responsibilities include implementation of a cable
plant and network infrastructure that includes all voice, video and
data connectivity. This hands on manager will also have budgeting and
administrative responsibility for the newly created IT organization
and related network infrastructure. Frequent interaction with
subordinate supervisors, customer representatives, and/or functional
group directors and managers. Work on problems of diverse scope.
Exercise judgment in selecting methods for obtaining solutions.
Develop and administer budgets, schedules and performance standards.
Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting overall objectives and
schedules. Establish policies that affect subordinate organizations
and recommend changes to organizational policies. Receive assignments
in the form of objectives and establish goals to meet objectives. May
interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve
matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or
customers and the company. Erroneous decisions will result in
critical delays in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize
overall business activities.

Qualifications: 5 years directly related experience plus 3-5 years in
a supervisory position. The successful candidate will possess strong
project management skills in a highly technical environment,
preferably with an IT organization, in the areas of cabling, voice
(PBX and Phone mail), data and video communications. Additional
software application knowledge will be required in the areas of
NetWare, NT, Solaris, Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office suite of
desktop applications. Preferred Experience: Previous experience at
planning, developing, and implementing infrastructure for a new
facility. Solid knowledge required for planning and physically
migrating systems between locations with minimum interruption to end
users. Knowledge/Experience with NetWare version 4.X
Knowledge/Experience with Solaris (possibly huge at that facility, if
EIS doesn't staff for it) Knowledge/Experience with Windows95/98 and
NT4.0 Knowledge/Experience with Notes4 Knowledge/Experience with SDRC
/ Mentor / Ansys Knowledge/Experience with Cisco Routers MSCE or MSCP
certification CNE certification Knowledge/Experience with Cabletron
equipment Voice/telecom experience (wiring, key systems, PBX, wiring
is most important, especially at first) BS in Computer Science or
equivalent experience Compensation: Based on Experience
