Engineering. Responsibilities: To invent, develop and evaluate
advanced materials, processes, technologies and systems for future
storage products that will address market and customer needs 4 - 10
years in the future. To carry out independent research and work as
part of a team to invent, develop and evaluate advanced materials
processes, technologies and/or systems for revolutionary products.
Responsible for presenting his own research to internal and external
groups, as well as for publishing and patenting.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent with a demonstrated ability to
conduct independent research on materials, processes and technologies
relevant to data storage technology. A proven performer that is
skillful in presenting concepts, research and new ideas to diversified
audiences. Highly motivated, independent and creative. Must be able
to collaborate and partner with internal and external research groups.
Demonstrated technical leadership through prior research
accomplishments, publications, patents and conference participation.
Opportunities exist for engineers and scientists with demonstrated
ability to pursue research in one or more of the following areas: 1.
Computer Storage Systems and Architectures 2. Magnetic Materials for
Heads and Media 3. Magnetic Head and Media Design and Processing
Disk/Tape Drive Mechanics 4. Tribology 5. Slider/Suspension Design and
Fabrication 6. Servos and Microactuators; Signal Processing/Recording
Channels 7. Optical Storage Systems and Media 8.
Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) 9. Scanning Probe Storage 10.
Other Data Storage Related Materials, Processes and Technologies.
