Organizing 2.0 Pittsburgh: How are we using the VAN today!  Training on Friday?

  • Well, I have some simple data entry to do.  A woman gave me her business card and asked to be added to the B-PEP email list.  The business card has her business address on it… the VAN will help me try to identify the address where she is registered to vote.  Of course the VAN will also make it easy for me to include her on emails and mailings

  • The VAN contains 2010 census data.  I want to figure out where the high density areas of African Americans live in Allegheny County… so B-PEP can focus it’s voter registration and Get out the Vote efforts in those communities.  No problem… then I can quickly identify the B-PEP volunteers that live in those areas.

The last VAN training was sparsely attended… their were a variety of reasons people where unable to attend.  I should schedual another VAN training at Addison Behavioral Care, in Wilkinsburg.  Wilkinsburg is centrally located… they are willing to let us use their training facility, will all of the computers, for a training.

How about Friday June 24 from 5-7 pm… if you can come at 6… that’s great, stop by for some VAN training!  I have to announce this latter today… if it can be pulled off.  If you can make a VAN training on Friday June 24 – anytime between 5 and 7 PM, please say so now.
