Hope you receive this message well.
It is noted that 5th AsRTC6 “Urban GeoEngineering” symposium is coming within less than 2 months. The symposium focus on issues of deep excavations, shield tunneling and geo-hazard issues about urban regeneration and development.
Organizers are: ISSMGE AsRTC6 committee, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) Geotechnical Society and National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan.
Co-organizers include: Department of Civil Engineering in National Taiwan University & National Centre for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) in Taiwan.
Spotlights on the symposium include:
Short course day (22nd of October): it will have three modulus which are:
Modulus 1: Innovative Geo-material & Ground Improvement (3 lectures)
(1) Application of colloidal silica in deep excavation & shield tunneling (presented by Nouryon Asia Pte. Ltd., Taiwan Branch)
(2) Ground Improvement Experience Sharing (will be done by Sanshin Corporation, Japan)
(3) Design and construction aspects of use of GFRP in deep excavation and shield tunneling (Presented by Dextra from Thailand)
Modulus 2: Advanced Application of Numerical Simulation, Big Data and AI (3 lectures)
Three lectures will be presented by Bentley/Plaxis, Professor Fuchen Teng of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and MIDAS GTS.
Modulus 3: Modulus 3: Current Development of Monitoring/Instruments and Construction Method (4 lectures)
Four lectures will be presented by Geotech Science Corporation from Taiwan, Kajima Corporation from Japan and Bauer Group, Germany.
Technical Day (23rd of October):
2 keynote speeches given by Professor Jamie Standing of Imperial College, UK and Professor Sugimoto from Japan together with 32 confirmed papers split into 4 different sessions will be presented in the symposium. “Taipei forum” will focus on geotechnical challenges which urban regeneration/development have to face associated with three presentations, discussions of two panelists & Q and A from the floor.
Site visit day (24th of October)
A half-day visit to a tunnel construction site in Taipei City will be organized.
