Role: Cloud Engineer

Location: Nashville, TN 

 

Looking for an experienced cloud software engineer to assist in migrating existing data center based applications to the cloud. his engineer will take deployable artifacts from the various development teams and create all of the deployment automation code needed to deploy that application on in a scalable, resilient, and supportable manner. Cloud Software Engineer will work hand-in-hand with the development teams to understand how the applications are architected and built, will then create all of the infrastructure code necessary to deploy that application in the cloud, and finally will work with the Production Engineering team to fully support the application deployed in the cloud.

Responsibilities:

 

·Assist in migrating applications from  on-premises datacenter to the cloud.

·Define a migration strategy for an application by understanding the application architecture in working with the development team

·Integrate asset provisioning with code release and continuous deployment processes

·Automate deployment and fail-over of systems.

·Define and document best practices, procedures, and policies in automation and application migration

·Create code assets and tools to accelerate application migration projects

·Coach development and production engineering teams to be self-sufficient in infrastructure and application deployment automation.

·Troubleshoot issues across the whole stack - hardware, software, applications and network

 

Required Skills/Qualifications:

 

·         BS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent degree

·         5+ years of experience as a technical specialist or software developer

·         Hands-on technical practitioner and individual contributor

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal development organizations

·         Ability to travel for projects within the US

·         Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a cloud or virtualized environment

·         Experience building sophisticated and highly automated infrastructure

·         Prior success in automating a real-world production environment

·         Experience with Chef, Puppet, Salt or other automation framework in production environments with many nodes

·         Experience with automation deployment automation frameworks such as  CloudFormation, OpWorks, and JSON

·         Strong scripting skills (I.e. Powershell, Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, etc…)

·         Knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls

·         Experience with revision control source code repositories (Git, SVN, etc…)

·         Experience with continuous integration servers like Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, etc…

·         Experience with seamless/automation build scripts used for release management across all environments

·         Experience with automated testing tools and test driven development

·         Understanding and experience with code deployment (tagging)

·         Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOAP and REST)
