Slumped Sconces Workshop
March 21st-28th
Saturdays, 10-4 & 10-2
Create striking glass lighting fixtures for your home with this great two day workshop. Day one will be spent creating flat glass patterns for fusing into matching or independently designed sconces. Day two, one week later, will be spent finishing the fused panels and shaping them to be slumped over a sconce mold. The finished results will be ready to hang on the wall.

Using Reactivity in the Kiln

The combination of certain glasses in the kiln can lead to surprising results! This 3 week class will teach you to harness reactivity to create effects that range from the subtle to the extreme. Students will learn the chemistry behind the reactions, how to plan for them, and how to prevent the changes if desired.

Exploring Powder Techniques in the Kiln

Kiln Casting 101
April 11th - May 15th
Saturdays 10am-2pm
Kiln Casting is an easy way to manipulate solid glass into almost any shape, working primarily with wax, clay and plaster molds. This class focuses on the core skills of: plaster-silica mold making, lost wax processes and preparation of molds for the kiln. 1-3 glass objects will be produced during the 5 week class.

Spring Break
Teen Glass Camp

Half Day: 9am-12pm
Full Day: 9am-3:30pm
Give your teenager an unforgettable week with our glass camp! Students will work in small groups with our skilled teachers to learn the mesmerizing art of glassworking. Solid formed objects will be made, along with blown items like glasses. Ages 14-18, no experience required.

Intermediate Beadmaking
May 10-31st
Sundays 10am-1pm
This 4 week class will expand upon the techniques from Beadmaking 1. New surface applications and patterning techniques will be introduced so that students may create a wider variety of beads. Sculptural beadmaking techniques will also be introduced. Students will be invited to bring their own project ideas, and interactive demos will make up a significant part of the class structure.

Flameworked Vessels
April 4th-25th
Saturdays 11-3
Learn how to create glass vessels at the torch in this intermediate level class. Students will begin to understand the correct heat application, turning and starting shapes needed to create well-formed and functional vessels. Small bottles, jars, vases and cylinders will be introduced through comprehensive demonstrations and students will get plenty of practice time during this 4 week course.

Intermediate Flameworking

In this 4 week class, students will continue to progress their hand skills and use of the torch will begin to feel more natural. New shaping and patterning techniques will be explored in solid glass, and borosilicate tubing will be introduced. Students will learn to pull points and begin to create simple blown shapes at the torch.

Parts and Pieces
with Carmen Lozar

Tues-Fri 9am-3pm
This four day workshop adventure will explore how to sculpt the components of a figure. Using borosilicate glass we will focus on the steps needed to create heads, torsos, hands, and feet. Each student will learn the basics by working with solid rod and then move on to hollow sculpture through the use of tubing.
The class will be encouraged to interpret the techniques they learn by adding their own style to create small figurative portraits or sculptures. Some knowledge of flameworking is helpful. All levels are welcome.

Skill Building with Goblets

This class focuses on skill building at the furnace through the creation of traditional Venetian inspired goblets. lt is for students who wish to build the foundations of traditional vessel forming technique, and refine their own designs and concepts for glass. Covered techniques include: basic and complex vessel forming, bit application, goblet making, and selected color applications including cane work.

Mega Murrine

This four day class will delve into murrine. We will explore historical and contemporary examples of murrine usage through talks, discussion and in the hotshop. Student interests will help to guide the specificity of topics which will include constructing murine; planning, color choice and execution as well as using murrine: different methods of picking up or application of.
