exploring barman it seems behind every corner lies a new thing that swipes me off my feet understanding wise.

Latest edition ... barman vs bart. can anyone explain how those are related or if they are?

or is it just that the company edb as the maker of bart has bought a rival company 2ndquadrant with it control over bart's rival product barman?

They are not related.

Right. Barman will continue to be maintained and developed. BART will
not be developed further..
