Paul, you've got the agenda board, so I'll pick on you, but everyone else on this list chime in. I've noticed that often new people come with stories that can be something they've carried around for some time. It looks as though they have trouble finding a resolution to their stories or even people to listen, and are therefore hopeful that we will both listen and help out. I noticed this with Ann a couple of weeks ago and with Steve and Don last night (Steve had a story about data trollers, I think particularly the big 3 credit bureaus, and Don had a story about CalTran and the whole 710 link business). These are (so far, anyway) really useful stories and to my mind full of ideas for actions. So I think we need to stick a place in the usual GA agenda for stories - a time limit would be a very good idea, but a generous one.

I agree!.

I want to bring a new 'proposed agenda of the day' forward, I'm thinking we start enforcing our 2 minutes for regular GA, and maybe go to 5 minutes for open mic - and then, if you have a presentation, video, etcetera that you'd like to brig to the group, we could open a weekly 15 minute 'group education' slot with the discussion topic chosen and led/facilitated by one person - but maintaining a engaged discussion.

I'd like some input on this, but whatever we come up with, I'd like to bring it to facilitation and maybe give it a try if everyone thinks it's a good idea.  This would keep our pertinent business at the beginning of the meeting, and still allow people to engage the group for longer periods if they like, while allowing folks who cant commit to several hours straight to take part in our decision making process..

Thoughts?  I might draw up a new 'proposed' proposed meeting of the day (ha!) for discussion this week.
