The action committee has decided that it will no longer meet officially until further notice. Instead of meeting regularly we are suggesting that 3 themes be embraced for further actions.
- Move to Amend, aka abolishing corporate person-hood
- May 1 General Strike
- Breaking dependency on corporations and embracing an eco-friendly lifestyle
These 3 actions are in line with the results of our action interest poll. The results showed that occupiers were most interested in "Teach-ins and Outreach" and "Breaking Dependency on Corporations, Building Alternate Economy."
Details for each of the actions that were voted on, at least this is how they appeared on the poll:
Teach-ins and Outreach
- Education about terms and concepts that are often misunderstood and/or get a bad name, such as "anarchy," "democracy," "communism"
- Introduction of Asian systems concepts
- Promoting group education rather than top-down structure
Breaking Dependency on Corporations, Building Alternate Economy
- Rally around a local business that competes with larger Corporations
- Build a co-op that brings together disenfranchised in Pasadena (foster-care, homeless, street labor) with middle-class to create alternative, time-based, barter-based economies
- Develop a physical meeting place at a Farmer's market that creates a "meeting place" for the alternative economy and also represents OP to the community
