A party just for the girls
This year, there will be many more festive activities within Panteresports. One of the important new events is a party with the ladies in mind, put together for female participants, their friends and partners. On Saturday 22nd June, after all the sporting activities have finished, the women will be able to celebrate the end of Panteresports and the start of summer with a special event just for them!
5 years of BCN Pride
The sporting competitions coincide with the start of the Pride activities. Barcelona’s enormous LGBT pride party will celebrate its 5th anniversary and will be held from the 20th to the 30th of June. Avinguda Maria Cristina next to Plaça d’Espanya will be the venue for the main events, while the floats will parade up Avingua Paral.lel on Saturday the 29th June.
This year’s pride motto is “kiss with pride”, accompanied by the “KissTherapy” (#Besoterapia) concept. The purpose is to get across the idea that the kiss is universal, and that homosexuals as well as heterosexuals share this display of affection. Furthermore, it’s a way of showcasing pride and not hiding as well as celebrating diversity.
Sant Joan en Barcelona
If you are coming to Barcelona to participate in Panteresports, take advantage of your trip out here and extend your weekend until Monday 24th of June. You could therefore experience first-hand one of the most popular celebrations in the country: the Sant Joan festivities!
Different cultures have been celebrating the summer solstice in a very special way for a long time. In Catalonia, the night of the 23rd of June is the “Night of Fire”, the “Night of the Witches” or, as everyone knows, the night of “Sant Joan”. And fire takes centre stage on this special evening. There are many popular outdoor parties celebrated in the streets and on the beach, and Barcelona is illuminated, with bonfires lit and firecrackers let off in all parts of the city as well as a seaside fireworks display. |
