One of the most wonderful things about our fraternity is its rich and
long history which has shown how Masonry has influenced and shaped the
world that we live in today. Learning that history has been a hobby of
mine since my initiation.

After I was raised to the sublime degree, I have been introduced to
many wonderful scholars that are Brothers who have studied, taught and
written many books, from Masonry to the Knights Templar. From
discussions on early philosophies to mysticism, or thoughts of it
written by the early scholars such as Pike and Mackey, I found that
there is a whole new world I never knew until I was made a Mason. Much
of history is not told but only written or passed down from ear to
ear...

To me, it would be wonderful if we setup a date and time, either once
a week or month, to meet and discuss and study the history, philosophy
and various historical figures of Masonry as well as set up a Masonic
Library. I personally have many books that I am willing to contribute
and there are various books from notable authors available to be
printed from various sites.

Thoughts? Criticisms? Ideas?

Thanks Bro. Bowlin.
There is a lot of good history in our Order that would be good to
research such as the Civil War times and the times of World War I and
II. Also the key historical figures in those times that we hear and
read about in Masonic books. But not just books but from other
Brothers as well that have been told of some history either within
their family or from other Brothers that has been passed down either
within their family or from Brothers in their Lodge.

There is a lot of history in Masonry right here in Alabama, history
that's not written but can only be learned from other Brothers. I
believe it would be fascinating to learn from what a lot of other
Brothers know while we still have that chance - at least document some
of that history.

Also to go back and look at the times of King Solomon's temple and
learn about the key figures and the philosophy and symbolism that we
learn in our 3 Degrees is very meaningful.
