Subject: Just something to ponder.....

grotesque utility poles the County installed all up and down Rt. 214 (whose idea was that??

They've been there for a bit but aesthetically they are a major eyesore.  This is the kind of sensitivity that may be beyond the skillset of County Planners, but as residential communities that border these installations, we should be able to get them replaced.  For years, the Planning Board has been able to bypass community endorsement on development because they have engaged in a practice of scheduling meetings during the day.  This is almost analogous to many southern states that restrict voting hours to 9 to 5.  I appeared at planning Board meetings years ago accusing them of instituting a discriminatory scheme in Prince Georges County.  In my own hometown of New Rochelle, NY, and most cities in the county these types of meetings were always held in the evening so that residents were able to attend.  The practice here needs to be amended.  We know white power still controls the purse strings, but we must insist that the Black elected leadership ensures more inclusion and equity in governance.
