I don't know how much the "county contribution" relates to the TRIM amount, but Maxwell is asking for a more than 17 percent increase in the "county contribution."

By the way, does anyone know what high paid principals do during the school day hours they are not in their schools?  That may be the majority of hours in at least one District 8 school.

I wonder if there is a way to find out how much more the "County Contribution" figure is than the TRIM amount and how much in the way of a charter-violating tax rate would be required to fund that difference.

School system funding comes from a variety of sources - federal, state, county, special programs. The county property taxes represents a huge portion and the rate staying the same (TRIM) has been blamed for everything. The press lies to you and parrots the drivel that they don't get more money as property values rise.

Rate x assessment. Fixed rate because of TRIM but values increase by the perception of the county and the quality of the education.

As Diane mentioned, this PGCPS CEO budget is a proposed 17% increase in the county's contribution from last year, or an additional $119,522,742. And here's the money quote (pun intended) from the budget report:

The Maintenance of Effort increase required for FY 2018 is $9,245,331. Local funds may be appropriated above the MOE, those will be included in future years’ calculations, unless excluded in certain cases under state law. For the FY 2018 Proposed Budget, the County Contribution is projected to exceed the MOE requirement by $114.96 million.

Recall that, two years ago, the CEO's budget request was for a 21% increase in the county's budget, or an additional $133,000,000. That increase would have raised #PGTaxes by 16%. Then, as now, the CEO's proposal was far beyond the MOE requirement.

Unless that new MGM casino is going to be generating big bucks this year, Prince George's taxpayers should expect to be paying quite a bit more in property taxes if this budget is approved...

Does anyone know how we can find out the TRIM-busting effect on our property tax rate?
