Dear working group members,
The Pittsburgh Food Policy Council is excited to co-present the Pittsburgh Urban Farm Tour on Saturday, September 14th with the East End Food Coop and Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA)!
This unique opportunity allows participants to see the important work and positive impact of urban farms and community gardens throughout greater Pittsburgh. This year, tour-goers can encounter livestock (including chickens and mini goats), buy fresh produce from farm stands, check out beehives in the country's first urban community apiary, and tour beautiful gardens built on vacant city lots and baseball fields. The tour is self-guided and features 11 sites.
Please join us and consider sharing this event among your networks. The facebook event can be found here.
Tickets for the Pittsburgh Urban Farm Tour are available at www.eastendfood.coop/farmtour. Admission is $15; kids age 12 and younger are free. Event registration kicks off at the East End Food Co-op (7516 Meade Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15208) at 9:30 a.m. where ticket holders can pick up an official tour guide, map, and buy a commemorative t-shirt before heading out on their self-guided tour. Farms will be open to receive visitors between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. All proceeds support local urban agriculture projects.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
