Dear Working Group Members,

I invite you to join the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council's #Power_Of_We photo campaign. We are asking our members-- communities, food businesses, farmers, organizations, universities, and government partners--to reflect on how we have worked together this past year to overcome the challenges of 2020.

We invite you to submit photos of your work; growing food, retooling business models, nourishing our communities and whatever else you come up with! We've shared some examples below. We will share these pictures during our final membership meeting of the year on December 15th as we reflect together on 2020.

In order to participate, we ask individuals and/or entities to:

1) Upload images using this form

2) Share your images on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) using the hashtag #Power_of_We. Please tag the PFPC!

3) Use your social media channels to invite others to join

And finally, please REGISTER HERE for our final member meeting of the year!

Many thanks to you all for your dedication and vision for a better world.

After the stay at home order, in early March the PFPC allowed me to work from home ;) The work is the same, but it definitely seems different.

Staying connected online is more important now more than ever, and Covid 19 has made this work more important and impactful. Let's keep rebuilding a better food system together.  @theqiyamansari #Power_of_We

We went from in person member meetings, where we could share meals and laughs to Zoom calls during 2020.

A sustainable food system is needed now more than ever and during 2020 we experienced a pandemic that laid that truth to bare. @pfpc

Collaboration is key when it comes to solving systemic issues and we love that our partners come from so many diverse backgrounds.

In 2020 we went from post-it note votes to online surveys as we continued to adapt to the current challenge of a stressed food system. @pfpc

Goal finding is an important part of any organization, and 2020 has forced us to create some new priorities around a sustainable food system.

We went from white board sessions to Zoom presentations as the Greater Pittsburgh Food Action Plan came to life. @pfpc #Power_of_We

"When the history books are written and studies are published on how COVID-19 interrupted the U.S. food system, we must account for these stories of resilience and community support. Despite their own hardships, and in the face of systemic and persistent inequities, people demonstrated care and support for those in their local communities, highlighting the informal community food systems that exist throughout the U.S." - food systems journal
