ABOUT THE PLAY
Hailed by The New York Times as the fourth greatest American play of the past twenty-five years, Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play examines how stories and cultures evolve in wake of catastrophe. Following a nuclear apocalypse, a group of survivors on the U.S./Mexican border attempts to remember the past by retelling an old episode of The Simpsons ("Cape Feare"). Soon their retellings take on the form of a traveling theater troupe and–generations later–a full length operetta retelling of “Cape Feare” that is at once Greek Tragedy, Gilbert and Sullivan, and a Latin dance party, all speaking to the power of storytelling to help us survive.
