Does PFLOTRAN support two kinds of gas in general mode? I want to inject CO₂ into soil that is not initially water-saturated, so that CO₂ can diffuse and mix with the original air inside the soil. How can I achieve this?
Best,
Juntao
PFLOTRAN does not support mixtures of gas component (i.e, > 1 gas component) on the flow side. The code does support multiple gas species on the transport side. I would define a CO2(g) species on the transport side and allow it to convect/diffuse in the gas phase within the porous medium.
Note that by default, gas mass is not transferred between the flow mass conservation equations and the transport mass conservation equations.
