Dear PFLOTRAN Developers and Community Members,
I am interested in applying these models to PFAS–colloid co-transport in porous media.
I recently reviewed the FY25 Status Report (PNNL-38392), which states that the CFT model and the M1–M5 particle transport models have been fully implemented in PFLOTRAN, including the M2 straining model with blocking, the M3/M4 combined attachment–straining models with blocking, and the M5 model with a maximum surface concentration constraint.
I would like to better understand the current user-facing status of these particle transport capabilities and how they can be practically used by end users:
1. Availability
Are these newly developed particle transport models available in the current public release or in a public development branch?
If they are not yet included in an official release, which branch or pull request should users follow?
2. How to use the models
If these models are available, Which input cards and keywords are used to activate each model (CFT, M1–M5)?
3. User documentation
Is there an up-to-date PDF version of the PFLOTRAN User Manual that corresponds to recent PFLOTRAN versions and includes documentation for these particle transport models?
If so, could you please provide a download link?
4.Regarding the M2/M3 Straining models
Does the current implementation only account for the removal rate (filtering), or does it also account for Size Exclusion effects (e.g., velocity enhancement or effective porosity reduction due to particles being excluded from small pores)?
5. Example cases
Are there any regression tests or example input files in the repository that demonstrate the use of the Straining model (M2) or the Two-site model (M4)?
Thank you very much for your continued efforts in developing these capabilities.
Sincerely,
Zhongkang
