Hi pfriends,

I keep running into google storage issues and have run out stuff to delete. I'm considering deleting all 16,000 pfopen emails I have from undergrad, but thinking about it makes me sad. Has everyone else already done this? Am I being too nostalgic?

Just search for the threads containing a message from the 2-3 most trolly Pfohosers, assume that takes care of 80% of the flamewars, and delete everything else.

Do the method that person developed for things in your house - read each one and ask yourself: does this bring me joy? 

If yes, then keep it. If no, then delete.

Okay! I found a compromise, inspired by your (implicit) encouragement to look beyond an all-or-nothing approach. I deleted all emails that matched the criteria label:pfopen label:unread. Am now at a comfortable 84% capacity. I'll be back in touch when I approach capacity again and will therefore need more nuanced search terms. I don't think label:flamewars will work.

So . . . I'm reading the book now and learning the method.  I'm planning to do the decluttering this weekend sometime (Matt, I can update you once that happens).  Tasnoba, I like her philosophy on decluttering, and it makes sense to me.  Some of her suggestions are a bit out there, but I'm interested in really trying it out.  My brother and his girlfriend use the KonMari method once a year to keep their tiny apartment tidy.  He's a true believer in this haha.
