The Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Human Services (MOHS) is seeking
candidates for an Americorps VISTA position to improve the
responsiveness of Baltimore City's homeless services system to the
needs of transgender and gender non-conforming clients. The VISTA will
attend a training July 9-12 and will serve at MOHS from July 13, 2012
- July 12, 2013.

AmeriCorps VISTAs in Baltimore city receive a $13,164 annual living
allowance, health coverage, relocation and settling in assistance
based on eligibility, and a choice between a $5,550 education award or
$1,500 stipend at the end of their service.

Qualifications: Candidates must self-identify within the transgender
spectrum. Candidates who have experienced homelessness are strongly
encouraged. The VISTA will be a self-motivated individual who is
comfortable facilitating discussions among people with diverse and
conflicting viewpoints. The VISTA must have experience living or
working in an urban environment. The VISTA is required to have their
own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage. Candidates cannot have
a criminal record containing violent or sexual offenses, and they
cannot currently be on parole for anything.
