Keith, Tim -
The Tracking Emergency Clients (TEC) steering committee (of
which I'm a member) has considered incorporating PFIF within the scope of the
TEC standard and its progression towards eventual submission to OASIS. The
TEC convenors (Tim Grapes and other SE Solutions folks) are having some
exploratory talks with Google & Ping in these regards.
There wasn't much discussion about this at last Monday's TEC
steering meeting, which focused more on some of the proposed TEC elements
(similar to TEP, concerning patients), and how they might need to be changed or
better defined to support a large-scale disaster with extensive evacuations
like Missisippi flooding. (There was also more thought about how to
package & scope possible information that is not focused on individuals
evacuees, but more on shelter and transport capabilities.)
As Tim Schwartz indicates, PFIF could be included within
a EDXL-DE, wrapper, by itself or with TEC/TEP content as well. PFIF is a
somewhat minimalist schema and traditionally public facing, whereas TEC/TEP is
considerably more extensive and focused on supporting emergency responders,
hospitals, and shelters. I don't think either will entirely replace the
other, but they could (if stars align) co-exist and be
complementary.
