Dear PPS partners, colleagues, and community members,
I'm thrilled to send this annual email to let you all know that the PPS climate justice and sustainability teams are hiring AmeriCorps members for the 2024-2025 school year.
PPS AmeriCorps members are integral to our ability to meet our
Climate Crisis Response Policy goals, develop and support critical climate programs, and uplift student and teacher voices across the district.
We could not possibly do everything we do without them, and we are so excited to welcome 4 new members to our team next year. Applications are due July 12:
This year, our AmeriCorps cohort was deeply involved with and responsible for:
- Developing and tracking Key Performance Indicators for PPS climate goals;
- Hosting the PPS Spring Climate Summit for highschoolers and supporting multiple middle school climate fairs with our partners at SAGE;
- Coordinating the PPS School Sustainability Champions network, the PPS Climate Action Design Team, and the PPS Climate Justice Youth Advisory;
- Organizing hands-on programming and learning for waste education and community-wide school clean-up events.
- Integrating a Climate Justice and equity lens into our work;
- Developing our monthly, award-winning PPS Sustainability and Climate Justice newsletter;
- Numerous direct student and classroom engagements to teach about climate.
- And much more!
Please consider passing this opportunity on to anyone you think might be a good fit! We have 4 different positions to fill, each of which presents the opportunity for a slightly different focus. All members will gain a range of professional skills in communication, program development, policy, data tracking, and more. Members will get to be part of a wonderful learning cohort through
Confluence Environmental Center, which hosts multiple climate justice related AmeriCorps positions across the Metro area.
Applications are due July 12!
Thank you so much for helping us spread the word.
Sincerely,
Kat Davis
