Dear Faruque,
Thanks for sharing.
I request you to read the full Ayetul Kursi ie Suras 255-257.

Respected Brother Ali

Assalamo Alaikum. You will not believe that how happy I am that I am reading the best translation of holy that my late Abba(Dad) cherished reading for years. I share with my wife and make her sit beside me and read aloud. The English is so rich that  at times difficult understand the meaning than fall back to Bengali translation. But it gives me a strength.

Thank you again for being gracious to lend me the translation n go through it. May Allah help all Muslims of the world forge unity required to stand with right dignity and honour as a religious nation everywhere. Amin.

Dear Brother Faruque

Assalamu Alaikum .
I am so pleased to know that you are enjoying reading the holy book alongwith the translation you were looking for so eagerly.
Brother Ali Behrouze is right in suggesting you to read Ayat 255 to 257 of Surah  Al-Baqarah which actually is the complete Ayetul Kursi.
By the way, since you already got the translation by Late Yousuf Ali ( I presume ), in that case I don't have to carry it with me while I come to Dhaka. But I shall insha Allah try to meet you.
All the best, Allah Hafiz.

Dear Ajmal Bhai

Walaikum Assalam. Yes, I got the said translation from respected brother Ali Behrouze and that for 1/2 months. I doubt with such vastness of the tough translation plus with materialistic business for survival for me it will not be possible to finish. I do not what is situation whether you can give for long time or not.
As everyday practice I recite Ayatal Qursi, Sura Yaasin, Sura Ar-Rahman,Sura Waquia, Sura Muzammil, Dorude Ibrahim everyday after Faz'r n after Maghreb prayers.I have memorized those coveted Suras. I do not how far correct I am in pronunciations and politeness in reciting n dedicating for Allah' mercy in turbulent life with anxiety, fear and suspense. But I try my best. Brother sometimes I serious feel guilty that why I neglected the advice of my revered father who was a very pious, honest n devout Allah fearing man. please that at this fag end I can continue till my last breath.

Ajmal bhai please do not say that you will try to meet me. You must come  and visit n make me happy meeting good people whom I have come to know PFC-friends.  You will be surprised to see the gorgeous WARI turned to a busy shopping mall like Elephant Road, with skyscraper n dirt. The dignity of the first planned residential area( founded in 1905 by Sir Rankin, then District Magistrate).

With sincere regards and Salam to all n your family.

Dear Brother Faruque

Assalmu Alakum. Insha Allah I would present myself to you upon my arrival, should you feel so eager to meet me. I am surprised to learn that Wari, a very decent residential area of the 50s has turned into a commercial or shopping area. Two of my very close relatives used to stay there. If I am not wrong, I even remember the numbers of their Houses  namely  4/1 and 32 Rankin St. There were 2/3 more houses in the same srteet we used to visit in the early 60s.  As I told you before, I really have some very happy and sad memories of Wari which I would share with you once I meet you in person. Considering the very heavy traffic movement of Dhaka it would probably be best if I come on one of the Fridays so that I could spend some time with you and look around the places I used to be around. Tentatively, December 13 may be a good day if you are free.  You know I am a person who suffers from nostalgia a lot.  My best wishes to you all.
Allah Hafiz.

Ajmal Huda.

Dear Faruk Bhai

Your e-mails are getting more and more interesting day by day and I can see an amusing composition of words in your description of how you used to loiter in the streets of Wari. I am sure most of us must have done the same during our days of puerile titilations.

Now coming back to 4/1 RS you mentioned about Late Major Faruque and all his siblings and cousins, oh my God, you know I happen to be one of his first cousins and apart from we being cousins we were the best friends of each other. He was one year senior to me though,as I did my SSC in 1964. He was a Gregorian but we were in Notre Dame College together for a year. As I mentioned to you before that I have some very sad memories of Wari, which is actually  mainly associated with Faruque. My mode of life actually changed with the sad demise of Faruque whose death was not natural. We can however discuss those issues once we meet insha Allah. There are a lot to talk about.

Thanks for inviting my wife, but she would join me a few days after my arrival. So let me meet you first as we have to move around Wari for a while to see the places where we used to spend lot of time together and do the same which you mentioned in your email. My wife could come another day afterwards if you so desire.  Actually after her arrival we would be pretty much occupied as we have to attend a few weddings and wedding related functions almost continuously one after another.

No more today. Allah Hafiz.

Ajmal Huda.

Dear Ajmal Bhai

It is great to hear from n your itinerary. I know almost all the houses in RS from one to  end. During 60's (teen) we used to loiter in the street of the area to try our luck to have glimpse of sweeties with "two Beni" and flower(Gondhoraaj or Kathali chapa) peeping from the behind the window or roof top( Ist or max 2nd floor). What a thrilling experience if could attract....... Ha ! Ha ! Ha !

I knew the occupants of 4/1, and 32 Rankin Street very well. Late Major Faruque, a valiant freedom fighter of 4/1  ( Later died in Jessore cantt...) was my classmate n I know all his siblings n cousins. The occupants of 32 RS was Arshad Ali(If I am not wrong) had Cargo Launch business. Kusum Bhai n Panir was his two sons.Unfortunately both are dead.

Anyway, I think we have many things in common and may be we may be old acquaintance. I am 1963 batch SSC from Nawabpur Govt.School. By the way how are recovering from your operation ?  Hope fine. Please come on the date you mentioned 13th December. Friday has many convenience like less jam in the street plus ample time to go around. Give me a call when U arrive Dhaka and be gld if U come with your spouse if she is accompanying you. Just for recheck my street # is 17/8 opposite Wari Post Office beside "Mahal Chinese Restaurant(RS has KFC/CFC/n many other standard fast food shops) n Cell #  0817 505257.

Ajmal bhai, waiting eagerly to meet U n Bhabi. May Allah bless us all.

Dear Ajmal:

To let you know that I was with Maj. Faruque, BB, in sector two camp of our horrifying Mukti Juddhya when we witnessed unbearable human misery, I knew him, as well as the fly and used to play in their RS house ( there was huge tin shade?), as I was from Luxmibazar, Majid Bhai was our 5th Dacca Scout troop leader, I was a scout with your bro. Chanu bhai in the same patrol, I knew Maj. Faruque Bhai as Salek Bhai in St. Greg. he was one year senior to me and class mate of Kazi Kamal, BB, who was in our Melaghar camp, sector two, Maj. Khaled was SC and I think Cpt. Faurue was his deputy or third after Maj. Nurul Islam, Shishu Bhai, after Maj. Khaled was gravely injured, Capt. Salek was the Sector Commander, till the war broke out, Capt. Salek was a valient fighter, and I saw him coming from an operation  across the border, one night with his LMG on his shoulder exhausted, wet to the skin, I was a Q. Guard, so halted him for pass word, I asked him how was it, he replied it was a nightmare, and said very sadly that he lost his subedar his own twoice, and 4 others, it tore my heart, as I knew his subedar, I opened my mouth to speak but I couldn't, he went right to his tent. I shall never be able to wash that scene from my mind. Sometime he used to teach us small arms how we can save bullets during firing on a hair-pin trigger of Chinese smg (very hard). He used to keep en eye always lovingly on all Dhaka boys specially Gregorians. Then after liberation I met him in an operation in Mirpur situation, he came down from an army helicopter with Maj. Khaled and saw me and Kazi, talked to us, in a abdar, told him that I have never been in a chopper, he replied lets see and went inside of the make-shift HQ, within few minutes we were joyously flying over Dacca, looked so green then. Few days later he was dead. The stark tragedy shocked me immensely. The med-camp for Dinajpur had to be cancelled, as nothing goes right in our Dhaka now. I hope you have recovered almost fully, even the surgeons need surgery sometime!

Best.
Hubert

Dear Hubert

It's so nice to hear from you. Actually Salek's nick name was Faruk, his Dad was my Mom's younger Brother. we were really very very good friends, there was nothing he wouldn't know about me and I wouldn't know about him. The incidents you narrated and many many more he used to tell me after he came back from liberation war. My last meeting with him was in jessore Cantt. where there was a celebration of  some 9th Div anniversary where he invited me and insisted that I must join him there and so I did with another Friend of ours and only after 2/3 days he died an unnatural death. It was 19th November,1972

By the way, we havn't really met each other for a very long time though I keep hearing from Salehuddin  sometime about you all namely Premu, Noushir, Bina etc, etc. You know I can't really remember when I met you last. But I do still remember those College days where I met you first back in 1964, you know I never told you this before but let me just be blunt, the very first time I saw you it occured in my mind that you look a lot like famous Italian Actor Marcello Mastroanni ( only his face is little longer than yours ) Please don't take it otherwise or you may take it as a compliment. Those days we used to see a lot of his movies particularly with Sophia Loren.

Please let me know if you ever come to visit Australia, in particular Sydney.

My best wishes to you.

Ajmal Huda. (Kabir)
