I have lived in Ward 4 for almost 9 years. I hope to call Ward 4 my home for years to come, but the cost of housing is making that difficult.
Last week, I got a notice that my rent was going up 5 percent. Although I am able to pay for the additional costs, I know many families in our community would be forced to move.
Those families are the reason why I am running for At-Large DC Council in the June 19th Election.
As a long-time advocate in D.C., I organized and fought side by side with D.C. residents to remedy the realities that impact Ward 4 residents, namely access to affordable childcare, unemployment, and environmental injustices.
When I am elected to the D.C. Council, I promise to continue fighting right alongside the Ward 4 community on the issues you care about.
I will continue fighting to ensure all parents have access to affordable, high quality childcare. I've also fought for a cleaner D.C. as a board member of the D.C. Sierra Club. I'm committed to a 100% clean energy city, which will lower electric bills for families while creating jobs in the clean energy sector.
I will continue fighting to ensure Ward 4 remains an affordable place for all families, residents and seniors.
It’s time to add a bold voice to the D.C. Council. If you would like to learn more about our campaign, I will have a table at the corner of Upshur St and 9th St. NW from 11:30am-12:30pm on Saturday, May 5th. I will be there greeting and talking to community members.
