Jim Carroll's Petting Zoo Characters

It's housework day and I'm again listening to the Petting Zoo
audiobook. As I've said before, it astounds me how the audiobook's
spoken performance brings out facets I hadn't noticed while combing
though the text. (I still wish it was Jim reading.)
Meanwhile, one of the things I like about the audiobook is how Scott
Brick delineates the characters with unique voices. You just KNOW Jim
would have done this if he'd been reading the audiobook. I would have
liked Jim's voices more. (It's really unfair to Scott Brick, if you
think about it.)
Anyway, some of the characters are based on real people, and some are
not. Would anyone care to discuss the various characters, or jump in
with their ideas about the bases for various characters?
I'll start.
I see Denny as a transporter accident combining Jim Carroll circa 1980
with Lenny Kaye. (If you have met both Jim and Lenny, please
comment.)
