Position: Engineer, Energy Conservation and Oil Loss/ Environment Specialist (Department - Technical Services)
About the client:
HPCL- Mittal Energy Ltd is a JV of HPCL with Mittal Energy Investments Pte. Ltd. HPCL and Mittal Energy Investments each have 49% stake, balance 2% is held by financial institutions.
The project consists of a 9 million metric tonne per annum (MMTPA) refinery, 1,100 km crude oil pipeline from Mundra, Gujarat to Bhatinda, Single Point Mooring (SPM) & crude oil terminal at Mundra. The ‘As built’ cost assessed by SBI Capital Markets Ltd. is $4.63 billion (Rs.18, 919 crore).Financial closure achieved on July 28, 2007. Project is expected to be completed by 2011.
HPCL, a Fortune 500 company, with an annual turnover of over Rs 91,448 crores ($20.8 billion) is one of the major integrated refining and marketing oil company in India. It is a mega Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) with Navratna status.
Mittal Energy Investments Pte Ltd., Incorporated in Singapore is a 100% subsidiary of Luxembourg based Mittal Investments Sarl(MI), the investment company of Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, the President & CEO of the worlds largest steel company, Arcelor Mittal. The investment by MI of $860 million (Rs.3,506 crore) is the first and the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) brought into the petroleum refining sector in collaboration with a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). The investment is equal to about 5% of the total FDI into India in 2006-07.
Roles & Responsibilities:
In Projects phase to receive training on key areas such as refinery operations, responsibilities and KPIs, administrative processes, SOPs, overall refinery operations, HMEL policies and Team Management. Also receive in-depth knowledge of MES tools and processes. Responsible for reviewing details of the refinery during the engineering, design and construction phase from a process perspective. Assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup activities.
In Operations phase responsible for working closely with unit supervisors for troubleshooting and rectifying all operational problems. Tracking and monitoring energy efficiency of plant, compliance of statutory limits w.r.t environment and highlighting all operational deficiencies. Assist Manager for developing parameters and guidelines for operating the units in an energy efficient manner. Assist in developing and providing technical solutions. Prepare regular reports to be shared with other departments and management. Monitor activities of outsourced operators. Assist Health and Safety department as required. Complete all required training and work according to KPIs envisaged for the team.
Educational Qualifications
The applicant should have good working knowledge of energy management principles for units in a refinery/ should have basic knowledge of environment norms and guidelines. Should have a degree in Chemical Engineering from a reputed college.
Experience
The applicant must have experience of 3-5 years working in the Technical Services Department of Refinery/Petrochemical Plant. Should have basic knowledge of Software tools for Process Design and Engineering. Should be a good team player and be able to interface with multiple departments.
