Hi all

I'm e1... just join this group... I would like to know if I have 64bit
platform with 4 GB RAM.. It's possible that Petite detect my lappy.
Because after googling around...I found that Elive 2.0 Topaz got
special kernel that can detect the platform .. so how about Petite..

Sorry seem like silly question... coz I'm OpenSUSE (KDE) user..
normally they got 2 type of platform.. ;-)

Hi e1 and thanks for your question

Your laptop will work fine with the 32bit version of petite. The only
drawback is that you will be limited to 3Gb of ram.
To make use of your 4GB ram, I suggest you install the pae kernel
which supports up to 64G ram.

This is a simple matter of installing the kernel-pae package with any
of the regular methods (yast, zypper).
If you have installed the nvidia proprietary drivers, you will also
have to remove the nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-default and install the nvidia-
gfxG02-kmp-pae.

This will give you the option to chose pae kernel at boot menu.
If it works ok, you can then remove the kernel-default package which
will remove the option from the boot menu and make pae default.

As for the 64bit version, there are some issues with 64bit openSUSE,
which I am not happy about, which include
- flash support in chrome
- build size
- other program incompatibilities
- overall performance
which have caused me not to release the build to the public.

Thanks for your comments,
I hope you enjoy petite linux :)
