Scenario Contest Winner posted 02-23-06 08:50 EST (US) 2 / 9 Maybe I did not explain myself very well.First, I want to mention that Stronghold Crusader is one of my favorite games.

However, I am having trouble with Stronghold 2.I am having hard time producing enough resources and income, to a point that I cannot build much of an army.Games have taken too long for me, and I am in a stalemate with the AI.I am at a point that it is not fun for me to play Stronghold 2 anymore.I need to find a way to boost my economy via a mod or a cheat.Otherwise I cannot play Stronghold 2 anymore.Any help would be appreciated.[This message has been edited by MosheLevi (edited 02-23-2006 @ 08:51 AM).] CaptSkubba

Bishop (VIP) posted 02-23-06 08:59 EST (US) 3 / 9 I don't know how it is that you're playing the game, but you're one of the first ones I've seen to have said that you can't do it. Most others argue that some of the balancing is too easy! The main thing I would recommend is using alternative methods of setting up your economy. Little changes like where you lay your buildings etc can make a huge difference. Also, I think you'll find that the majority of forum members are very much against discussion of cheats/cracks within these forums. Why would they object that players use cheat codes against the AI.

After all I am not trying to cheat against another player.

Most games offer cheat codes to help players at the beginning, as they are learning the game.

Without cheat codes many players would give up too soon and sell their games on Ebay. When I started to play Stronghold Crusader it was also very hard for me at the beginning, but I used the setting where I get much more money at the start of the game.

That helped me a lot and a result I have played Stronghold Crusader for several hundreds of hours in the past two years. Now, I am having the same type of trouble with Stronghold 2, except that cannot find a way to have an advantage where I can play the game and get better. Is there anything you can suggest or can you point me to a nother web site that can help me?

Archer posted 02-23-06 15:38 EST (US) 5 / 9 We do ban discussions of cheating in multi-player but not for single player. But I think you'll find it is severely frowned on, even for single player, by most forumers here. That's certainly the case for me.I think you do yourself a great disservice by trying to rely on cheats, rather than concentrating on building your skills. They will tend to stunt your growth, so to speak, as a Stronghold player. They just aren't necessary. But you have taken one very positive step, which is asking for help here. We're all glad to give you advice on how to increase your playing skills.I assume you're probably playing Kingmaker. Have you tried the Path of War and Path of Peace campaigns? These are excellent learning grounds for most of the skills you need in Stronghold 2. Most of my advice that follows applies to most types of maps, and for SH2, SH1, and Crusader, even though it's directed specifically at SH2.Set up lots of woodcutters (sawpits) right away. Wood is the lifeblood of building up an economy. And if you start to build up surpluses you can usually sell those off for much needed gold.If you're having a tough time producing enough goods, set more peasants to work. Add production. In addition, as CaptSkubba said, your building layout can significantly effect production. Study worker pathways and habits, shorten their trips.I worry mostly about two areas, food and weapons. If possible I set my granary in an open area where it can be surrounded by farms (this is for SH2 only). If I have the time and space for wheat/bread I give that secondary position to apples, dairy and meat, as it's much more efficient. Get plenty of food production going. Produce or buy all four food groups. Always shoot for four food types and double rations. This will produce a lot of honor and give you a good start on taxes.Weapons workshops need to be near the stockpile and the armory (except for tanners). Keep everything very tight. Need more weapons? Create lots more workshops. From what I read, a lot of players don't set up nearly enough weapons production, especially for archers. You'll need other things, too. Royal food for feasts and honor. Inn and/or church, whatever it takes to get taxes to a -16. You'll need castle services too, for rats, gong and crime.Grab estates as soon as you can. Ten gold each per month like clockwork, it adds up.I would get your population up as high and as fast as you can. More workers for more industries equals more goods/weapons for better defense and more gold through sales of surpluses. Higher populations mean higher income from taxes. They always mean better production, more gold...and better defense. Enemies must get through all those peasants and buildings to get to your keep. Larger economies tend to be much more resilient after a nasty attack.DoY's infamous TREASURE ISLAND - Challenge #13 - Sparrow's Extreme Challenges for SH1 and Crusader Shawnis

I had his castle surrounded. I mean, completely surrounded. He couldn't get in nor out for hours. But boy! He sure kept getting stone from I dunno where. He got wood too. From where? I controlled the whole map! I had his farms, all the wood, his stone mines, and his metal mines. I had THE WHOLE MAP! Yet he kept getting resources! I sat and watched his stockpile as I tore down tower after tower. Not different towers -- the same one. It kept magically re-appearing, but he had NO STONE in his stock pile! How does that work? He even collapsed all his buildings to buy stone to repair his walls, and then I took down the new walls. Yet I go to my barracks to train new troops, leaving troops at the entrance to the breach and what do I find when I return? His walls are back and his town is totally back up!What the hell is this? The ai cheats. It was made by Gathering of Developers. Gathering of Developers chested me! I expect the ai to run out of resources, just like I would if I was surrounded. I expect this game to play as it should! I don't sit for hours to control a map and then find that the AI is cheating without saying someting. And I say this: Gathering of Developers is cheating the public on a wholesatle basis! This is not allowed in our society! We are suppose to get what we paid for!! If they think this is some joke, they got another think coming! I want the game fixed. Fixed for EVERYONE! Every single copy out there!! I don't care what it costs them! They gotta make it right! They can't sell less than what they described - a game, and games aren't suppose to cheat!GoD says they're against cheating of any kind, but it's okay for them? NO SIR! THEY HAVE TAKEN OUR MONEY! I can show DAMAGES in a COURT OF LAW! That's right -- a court of law. Now either thay pay up and fix this game, or they go down for cheating the public! That's what they've done -- cheated you, by cheating with their AI. They take your money then waste your time. That is not allowed! And Heavengames, don't you dare close this thread! I'll be all over you like flies on **** too if you do! You don't have the right to pick and choose what is posted on these boards, especially when what is posted is the truth. This is a public board for people who have bought this game. I retain my first amendment rights! And if you think my language is offensive, think on how offensive cheating is!This game cheats! This is not acceptable. PERIOD! I want it fixed, or GoD can give everyone who asks for it, their money back!(no cheat codes because "we're against cheating" my butt!) AuthorReplies: b_heald

Archer posted 03-16-03 10:22 EST (US) 7 / 10 Many AIs cheat. The AoK AI cheats, the Shogun: Total War AI cheats, the SH AI cheats, they all cheat. Even the developers themselves have said they programmed the AI to cheat. The fact is that AIs in computer games can rarely rely on honest tactics alone. For example, the AI in AoK can be scripted so that the computer players magically get extra resources in long games. They make AIs cheat to make games more challenging, I think."That buzzing-noise means something. You don't get a buzzing-noise like that, just buzzing and buzzing, without its meaning something. Archer posted 03-17-03 00:02 EST (US) 9 / 10 The ai has taxes to replace it buildings and walls? I don't thinks so... not at that rate anyway.Look, I like this game. I played it again today, and it didn't cheat. But I don't like spending close to six hours to command a map, only to come up against insurmountable odds. I don't know what happened yesterday, but I assure you that I OWNED that map. I had archers and crossbowmen stationed everywhere, and for a great deal of time. Like I said, I like this game. That is why I was so disappointed. Stronghold Crusader is the ONLY game that is a game of position. All other RTS that I've played only amounted to overpowering your opponent. That's not the case with this Stronghold Crusader. It takes strategy, rather than brawn. Anyway, I apologize for losing my temper. I don't think the ai is cheating.. at least not today. I'm not sure what the hell happened yesterday, but by all indications I could only assume that when I quit that game. Maybe it was a 'glitch' (how I hate that excuse!). But it's working fine today, so I'm looking forward to playing it more.I'm sorry for losing my temper. GillB
