It seems to sometimes work to tap the 3 horizontal dots in the top middle of the screen, tap the option for split view, and then just tap the Dropbox window that has moved off to the left. It comes back to fullscreen and the sidebar seems to be gone.

I had to do a restore of some of my Dropbox folders from time Machine. Dropbox is no longer showing in the
Finder sidebar and its lo longer an option in sidebar preferences. I can view Dropbox in my user section, but it is greyed out and shows a green dot with a checkmark. I can open Dropbox by clicking the folder icon on the menu bar, it opens in finder and shows all my folders. How can I solve this?

To do so, just drag the Dropbox folder itself into the sidebar. The Dropbox folder can be found in your "Home" folder, the folder named after your computer user name. When you drag it in, you should see a blue line with a dot at the beginning indicating where the shortcut will be placed.

I tried that and Dropbox shows up in the side bar, but when I click on it, nothing happens. One thing I find strange, one of the folders I restored from Time Machine shows up if I click on it when I open Dropbox and all the files are there, but when I look at activity, the folder is not there and not all the files are listed. Other folders I restored do show up.

What if I delete Dropbox and re-install it, will I be able to restore my files/folders (I can copy files to another drive). More importantly, will I lose all the bonus storage that Dropbox allocated me years ago.

tried, module does not work proper. Such a shame, Should be straightforward to create an app template that inherit header and sidebar automatically. Also the new nav component does not have expanded default state or active nav item.

Hi @blackst thanks for this feedback! I believe our team is working on templating options I don't have an eta though, so I'd also suggest modules for the time being. Can you share some more feedback on how the module isn't working? I'll pass that on to our team

The breadcrumb ability to know what page you on , should be potted to the nav component. Also module should allow setting SideBar and header and passing it props into them from a child app. Having to hack the app to get it to recognise saved application state is not the best way to go.

I was thinking you could create a module with the components that you want to be in your sidebar->Then create an app with a sidebar->Clear out the default sidebar components->Then drag & drop your module inside the sidebar:

hope that multi page projects comes soon.
In the mean time can any one help me with any resource where I can see how to change page with the sidebar ? I am want to click and change page also clicked menu should be focused.

Introducing the Sidebar Frame: Create intuitive interfaces for complex apps by @maya is good example but she could have added some more features like changing page in her example that would help others more.

I recently posted a similar example in this modules post. It doesn't sound like you're specifically using modules, but it may help with your case still TLDR - you'll want to create Custom event handlers for the Go to App events, and then set the Highlight to be true when you're on that page.

Please make customizing the sidebar an option. We mostly only use teams and all the other stuff is a distraction, especially since the sidebar is so narrow. So a vote also for being able to adjust the width of the sidebar.

I have a "navigation" module inside a header that has a "hidden" attribute that I can set via the editor. However, the module object itself does not have a "setHidden" function so I cannot programmatically hide it, which seems like it might be an oversight / bug?

For the sidebar, you could use setHidden as mentioned below, or you could put something in the hidden field that can be toggled programmatically, such as temporary state (described in more detail here).

For example, would you want just the default gray background or would you want the background color of the main container to extend over the space of the sidebar? Are you mainly looking to avoid the app from shifting over to the left when the sidebar gets hidden?

I would love to programmatically change the size of the sidebar so I could remove the text on my menu bar links and only show the icons. When it expands the full text would show. Like the sidebar on Google products.

For changing the size, I'd recommend taking a look at the new split pane frame that launched to Cloud recently. You could pin it to the left & also use the viewport width to conditionally change the width of the split pane

Note: This problem of one widget blocking interaction with another widget can happen between any two widgets. Put a big empty text box over your map and your map will stop working as well. So, it is good practice to make your widgets as small as you can and trim any unnecessary whitespace.

But, what if I have two sidebars? Well, you can do this trick again. Take the whole Sidebar widget and stuff it just under the First or Second label (whichever is the always open side) of Sidebar 2 and you should have two sidebars that don't mess with your map. I've never gone beyond two, but I don't see any reason you can't have three or four sidebars, maybe even more...

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue where regardless of whether i choose the "left" or "right" options for the "location of the sidebar", the sidebar and all of the associated tools appears at the "bottom" of the map.

I had the same issue. It is a bug. Below is the reponse from ESRI. This also affects many Solutions using the Sidebar Instant App including Tree Solution, Irrigation Solution and Water Utility Solution. I was going to deploy the Tree Solution but the user experience is so compramised by the Sidebar app that this is no longer a useable solution.

From ESRI: The Esri Inc team has completed a thorough review of the matter and has acknowledged it as BUG-000163830, specifically pertaining to version 11.2. Unfortunately, there is no workaround available at this time.

@gyanarthi,
Can you please click the sidebar button on the top right to ensure that it is closed and then set the option in Settings --> Appearance to Never again? Additionally, when you say the side bar keeps coming up, does it appear during a mouse over? Or does it never go away to begin with?

Btw, Mattches, not sure who maintains it, but maybe add that and any other recent keyboard shortcuts to -us/articles/360032272171-What-keyboard-shortcuts-can-I-use-in-Brave- when someone has a chance? Not sure who would be aware of what additions they might have made.

Yes but that shortcut should not be opening it. Additionally, we have a custom keyboard shortcut implementation hitting stable soon, at which time I will update that doc (or add a new one) to explain the functionality.

I have set 4 categories as sidebar default, they are all restricted. When i invite a user to join discourse with group permission to some of that categories sidebar still empty for that user.
Can someone help out? Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't love the new lefthand sidebar menu which is due to be rolled out next week. It takes up valuable space which would be better used for interface elements and data. The reduction in available space means that we'd need to redesign some interfaces, as data and field names are now truncated and don't display correctly.

Perhaps it could be adjusted so the sidebar rolls out when the user hovers over the far left of the screen, or similar?

Going to have to agree on this as well - for users who are using smaller screens, this side bar is a downgrade to the space designers need. It would be great if we could please have the option to switch between different sidebars before this is released to all users.

Adding my two cents into this. I don't like the side bar, especially trying to figure out where the dang Edit is for the interface I am working on. More so, it looks ugly when you get a lot of interfaces. I make my own custom interface for what to include which interfaces to access for the team. Now it shows EVERYTHING including dashboards that I really have no need to be in the daily view.
