In the middle of the 60s, the aforementioned César Manrique, essentially the creator of current day Lanzarote, came back to the island, and created a home for himself. The house which you see is the top level, which follows the traditional architecture of the island, but underneath this, there are lava bubble caves, which he converted into a living accommodation.

The place certainly worth a visit, although it's a museum dedicated to Manrique himself, so there might be a bit too much of him here and there; that does not take away the value of the unique building and living quarters though.
