Hi Green Drinkers

Peterborough Environment City Trust will be hosting another of their successful film nights on the 20th October at the John Clare theatre, Peterborough.  Further information can be found below.  The screening will be followed by a few Green Drinks in the Brewery Tap.

The next in our series of free film screenings will be The Vanishing of the Bees on Wednesday 20th October.

When: 6pm-7.30pm

Where: The John Clare Theatre, Central Library, Peterborough City Centre

The details: Entrance is free, although donations are welcome!

About the film...

In the UK, around one fifth of honeybee hives were lost in the winter of 2008/09. Bees pollinate a third of the food we eat, contributing £200million a year to our economy. The Vanishing of the Bees is an eye opening account of the shocking truth behind the declining bee population. Visit www.vanishingbees.co.uk to find out more.

Ask the Expert...

After the film you can put your questions to Richard Davies, the Chairman of Peterborough and District Beekeepers.

Booking is essential:
Please email ny...@pect.org.uk to book your place, or call 01733 866437. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis. You can book as many places as you want but we need the name and email address of each individual attending.

We are extremely grateful to Anglia Co-operative for their support of this film screening.

Update...
For those of you that attended the screening of The Cove earlier this year I have an update for you from Dan Beeden from Royal Haskoning (who suggested we screen the film and helped organise it). Thanks to everyone that attended – together we’re helping to make a real difference.

“The dolphin drives started again in Taiji on the 1st Sept but Ric O'Barry has been in Japan to raise awareness and there is a Sea Shepherd team actually at The Cove. Fifteen Pilot Whales were killed last week and some dolphins have been captured for display in aquariums. But, all dolphins not taken into captivity have been released back to sea - so far! The international awareness of the film is definitely having a real impact - and money raised by screenings such as the one in Peterborough is helping this to happen!”

Many thanks

Nick Goodman
