March comes in like a Lion this weekend!!!

Hey everybody!

I just realized it's been a while since I've sent out one of these. So, if it's been a while since you've heard anything from me, let me start by saying, "hey, how's it goin? How have you been? Nice to see you again! What beautiful weather we've been having! How about that hockey game last night? Action-packed, eh? Did you ever thing the US would win a Silver medal in Hockey?"

There. Now that the pleasantries are aside, let me tell you about a couple of good things going on this weekend:

The Pete Petersen Septet with special guest Heather O'Brien from Spokane!

The critically-acclaimed Pete Petersen Septet returns to the Bossanova, this time with a very special guest vocalist. Y'all are gonna LOVE Heather O - she has a band back in Spokane called "6 Foot Swing" - they've been voted Best Band by the Inlander magazine for a few years in a row now. Heather has done a few guest appearances with the band in the past when we've played in that neck o' the woods, now it's her turn to come down to Portland and sing with us here in OUR hometown! 

I remember playing at this place back when it was the Viscount Ballroom. Back then they had live swing and jazz bands every weekend. Here's hoping that they start that tradition again. I venture to say, if all of you nice folks come out and support this show and we give them a huge crowd, they'll want to do it again and again. Let's make that happen!

A few notes about the "S-word" and the "J-word". I've been aware, for some time now, that a lot of Swing dancers don't like the "J-word", and many Jazz fans don't like the "S-word". You all should know that I'm a big fan of the "M-word": Music. I like to play good music that people can enjoy whether they're listeners, or dancers, or both. Music should feel good, that's the only criteria that really matters. So whether you're a dancer, or a listener, or both; come on out to the Bossanova this Friday night and enjoy yourself, will ya?
