Hey everyone!
I've got a couple of fun things going on this month, and a couple of great ways you can all help the continuum to, well, continue.
1) The Solomon Douglas Swingtet "Loose Wig Tour 2010" - Yes, that's right, we're going on tour again!!! This tour will encompass many East Coast cities. You can get the full details from Solomon's website,
www.solomondouglas.com, but meanwhile you'll find links to the dates and locations below:
2) Here's a question for you: do you have any idea how much it costs to take a band on tour? Not just the fee paying the musicians to perform; I'm talking about the everyday expenses like gas, food, lodging, bail money, pancakes at 3am, and all those other unforeseen but necessary expenses. Well, I guess they're not technically unforeseen because we're foreseeing them now. Anyway, back to the original question: do you know how much it costs to take a band on the road? Solomon Douglas does, and he's figured out a way you all can help make this tour happen! There's this website called Kickstarter which will allow you to help back this project financially in exchange for cool prizes!
http://kck.st/aIsKlX Notice that we're not outright asking for money, this is more like the fundraising done by Public Radio stations: Pledge to donate an amount, get a premium based on the amount you donate. $10 gets you a digital download of an album, $13 gets you an autographed CD, $16 gets you free admission to one show on the tour, etc. Go to the website for all the details, and then PLEASE help us bring this great music to all these great people!
3) The weekend after, Solomon and I will be performing in Seattle on May 28 with Bria Skonberg at the Naval Armory Base, from 10pm to 1am. Bria, Solomon, and I just recorded an album not too long ago called "The I-5 Drive". The actual CD isn't quite out yet, it's being mastered and post-productioned and all that other good stuff, but this will be your chance to hear us perform LIVE some of the some selections from that album - and we'll also give you updates on when the actual CD will be released
4) On May 30th, I'll be with the group "Half Pack Live", also in Seattle. That's gonna be cool - I'll give you more info as it comes in!!
5) I'm considering switching this email list to ReverbNation instead of Google Groups. There's a lot more there that's geared specifically towards musicians, rather than just being a general email list server. Unfortunately, due to their rules, all of you must "opt-in" to that list rather than being automatically added or changed over. I'm working on a way to consolidate this all, but meanwhile you can go to
http://www.reverbnation/petepetersenjazz to find out what it's all about, and add yourself to the new email list at:
http://www.reverbnation.com/petepetersenjazz?add_email=true
Thanks for all your help supporting Live Music and I'll see you out there in the trenches!
Pete
