Ferris 117638 - male, 3Y/45lbs, HW negative
Medical:
Information for adopters: Ferris arrived to the shelter with evidence of a suspected anal gland abscess rupture associated with his left anal gland. He is responding well to treatment, but the wound is not fully healed. Adopters need to be prepared to monitor the wound until it is fully healed. We do not know what caused this, but sometimes anal glands that become too full or impacted can be a contributing factor. Adopters should be prepared that Ferris may need routine expression of his anal glands and they should consult with the private veterinarian for continued monitoring/care.
Behavior notes:
2/16/26: At initial time of first exam patient was noted to be fearful, biting at leash and would not walk on leash. Today for his recheck exam patient was easily leashed in the kennel, walked to exam room with no concerns and tolerated restraint and cleaning of his wound. He maintained a loose body, offered tail wags and took treats well. Informed pathway planning of first notes of behavior and what was noted today - okay to proceed without a behavior hold at this time. If new behaviors are noted consult with pathway planning regarding if patient needs to be placed on a hold or not.
Intake date: 2/11, ACO stray p/u
Abandoned; no water found.
