Subject: Urgent Rescue Plea: A Thanksgiving Miracle Needed for Senior Xola - Calvert County Animal Shelter - Maryland

Can You Be the One to Rescue Xola?

🐾Help Xola Heal This Holiday🐾

This Thanksgiving season, we are grateful for dogs like Xola, a gentle and loving 7-year-old, 86-pound Boerboel who has shown remarkable sweetness despite all she has endured. Xola came to the shelter when her owner could no longer manage her medical needs, and even in her fragile condition she has greeted every person with soft eyes and a warm heart. She has truly never met a stranger.

Xola arrived with a low body condition score and needs to gain roughly 30 pounds to return to a healthy weight. She also came in with a severe pyometra, a uterine infection that required urgent lifesaving surgery. Xola was spayed on 11/20, and during the procedure veterinarians discovered and removed a grapefruit-sized tumor on her left ovary. The entire mass was successfully removed. The shelter does not have the capacity to send the tumor out for biopsy, but the sample can be sent with rescue if they would like their veterinarian to submit it for testing.

Through all of this, Xola has remained calm, gentle, and incredibly loving. She leans in for affection, enjoys quiet company, and seems thankful for every bit of kindness she receives.

But what she needs now is immediate rescue placement, a soft and cozy space to rest and slowly regain her strength. The shelter is loud and chaotic, and Xola deserves a peaceful place to heal her body and her spirit.

This Thanksgiving, we are hoping for a miracle for this sweet girl. If your rescue can offer Xola the warmth, care, and comfort she desperately needs, please reach out as soon as possible.

Let’s give Xola something to truly be thankful for, a safe home to recover and a future filled with love.

Xola is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.

Xola and many other animals in need are available and can be seen on our website www.calvertcountyanimalshelter.com.
