Subject: URGENT! HANDSOME GSD RETURNED DUE TO SEPARATION ANXIETY IN NEED OF RESCUE PLACEMENT AT BCAS !!
Handsome boy Bruce is back at BCAS as a return 4 days later because of behaviors in home and is now in need of urgent rescue placement. Bruce was originally at BCAS as a stray who was friendly around the finders’ children. In shelter, he was excitable to leave his kennel, appeared housebroken, and was environmentally sensitive to loud noises.
He is treat motivated and has wonderful behavior with the exception of his size and pull strength. When adopted, we were so happy to see the sweet boy go to a good home, and it was a good home, but he was brought back because of his destructive behavior in home. He was noted to be extremely high energy and did not tolerate being crated. When crated, the owner left and came back home to the crate door being bent and the dog out of the crate as well as a ruined interior door of the home. Because of this behavior that was observed in home, he is not an adoption candidate through BCAS any longer and needs a rescue partner to take him in, get him the training he needs, as well as a home with somebody that has breed experience and plenty of time to adequately work with a German Shepherd and the breeds need for high levels of exercise.
