Waffle Fry: unaltered female, 7yo, 43.4lbs
Waffle Fry came to BARCS as a stray on 7/21 and is looking for a rescue partner who can help her receive the medical care and comfort she deserves.
Waffle Fry is truly a terrific girl who has captured the hearts of staff. She is sweet, gentle, and loves spending time exploring the world around her. She is an Olympic-level sniffer who enjoys taking in all the new smells on walks and trails. Waffle Fry is treat-motivated and walks beautifully on leash, making her a wonderful companion for adventures.
Waffle Fry has several concerns that will require follow-up care. She has multiple masses, including two mammary masses on her left side, as well as skin tags and other dermal masses that will need evaluation. She also has periodontal disease with significant tartar buildup and multiple fractured teeth, including all four canine teeth, which will require veterinary attention. She is currently thin with some muscle wasting noted around her temporal region, though she has a good appetite. She also has mild ear infections that will need treatment.
During dog-to-dog interactions, Waffle Fry has shown that she may be uncomfortable and undersocialized with other dogs. She has displayed tension, posturing, standing over behaviors, and difficulty navigating interactions. She would do best with careful introductions and a rescue partner willing to continue helping her build confidence. She has also shown some high-arousal behaviors, including jumping when seeking comfort and pulling strongly when excited.
Despite everything she has been through, Waffle Fry remains a sweet and loving girl who enjoys affection, treats, and exploring. She deserves the chance to receive medical care, decompress, and spend her days surrounded by people who appreciate the wonderful dog she is.
