Merlot Needs Rescue

Meet Merlot, a 7-month-old pittie in need of rescue. Transferred into our care from another shelter in June, not much is known about her past. However, during her time with us, we have learned that Merlot is a bright, energetic young dog who is eager to learn and continues to make progress every day.
At just 7 months old, Merlot is still learning her manners and has plenty of puppy energy. She has participated in shelter playgroup with other dogs and has done well. Unfortunately, the shelter environment appears to be taking a toll on her, and she is beginning to display stress-related behaviors in her kennel, including barrier reactivity, jumping, mouthing her handler, and difficulty settling.
It is important to note that these behaviors are primarily observed in the kennel environment. When out on walks or participating in playgroup, Merlot is able to engage appropriately and otherwise does well. With the right environment, structure, and continued guidance, we believe she has the potential to make significant progress.
Merlot is looking for a dedicated rescue that can give her the opportunity to decompress outside of the shelter environment and continue helping her develop into the loving companion we know she can be. If your rescue can help Merlot, please reach out.
