Subject: Open Your Heart to Toph's Senior Journey!! - Baltimore, MD
-Baltimore, MD
- Rescue Needed -

Toph: unaltered male, 13yo, 8.2lbs

Toph came to BARCS as a stray on 8/13 and is an older gentleman with several medical needs that will require continued veterinary care.

Toph has a heart murmur, luxating patellas in both back legs, and severe dental disease. His dental disease is significant enough that a dental cleaning and removal of several teeth are highly recommended. Dental disease can negatively affect the heart, but because of his heart murmur, anesthesia also carries additional risk. His future adopter or rescue will need to work closely with their veterinarian to carefully weigh the benefits and risks of dental treatment.

Routine senior bloodwork, including a CBC, chemistry panel, and thyroid test, along with a urinalysis and blood pressure check, are recommended at his next annual veterinary exam. Due to his age and high anesthetic risk, BARCS recommends that Toph be released intact rather than undergoing a routine neuter.

Toph is looking for a rescue or adopter who understands that senior pets sometimes come with extra medical needs but can still have so much love left to give. He deserves a quiet, comfortable place to spend his golden years with someone willing to keep up with his veterinary care.

A full medical summary can be provided upon request.

Thank you,
