Three young kittens are in need of rescue placement after arriving at BARCS sick and requiring ongoing medical care. Despite not feeling their best, all three kittens are eating when encouraged and are showing plenty of fight.
All three kittens have their eyes stuck closed with yellow discharge from both eyes and yellow nasal discharge consistent with an upper respiratory infection. They received fluids, vitamin B12 supplementation, and deworming medication.
Kitten #1, a grey and white male weighing 0.94 pounds, has several areas of hair loss and scaling, along with evidence of old injuries to one front leg and a damaged toe on a hind foot. A fungal culture has been submitted to rule out ringworm or another fungal infection. Until results are available, our veterinary team recommends lime sulfur dips for all three kittens as a precaution.
Kitten #2, a grey and white female weighing 0.96 pounds, and Kitten #3, a grey, buff tabby, and white male weighing 1 pound, are also receiving treatment for their eye and respiratory infections. Aside from their current illness, all three kittens were bright enough to eat.
These babies need a rescue or foster placement where they can continue their medications, receive supportive care, and recover in a comfortable environment.
