Happy Tails Animal Rescue of Washington County, VALocated: Abingdon, VA
Cascade - Lab mix, black/white, female, 4-6y, 58lbs. Cascade is a rollicking, affectionate, extroverted girl with all the playful energy you could want - dialed in at just the right level for a dog who's grown into herself a little. She's got the enthusiasm of a pup without the absolute chaos. Cascade appears overall healthy. She came to the shelter as a stray. 6/17: Dog test provided very mixed signals; may be best as an only dog, possibly okay with slow introductions.
Felix - Beagle/blue heeler mix. Male. 45#. 4-6 years. Calm and bashful. Asks for attention, sweet hand nudges and soulful eyes.
Colin - Border collie/lab mix. Male. 43#. 3-5 years. Very timid. Belly crawls. Carried from kennel for pics. Able to handle and look at teeth/feet etc easily. Tiny hand kisses in exchange for attention. Came in with Cassidy who may be his daughter.
Cassidy - Border collie/lab mix. Female 37# 2-3 years old. Very timid but easy to touch. Tiny hand kisses and tiny tail wags in exchange of gentle pets and kind words. Carried from kennel from pics. Perked up a lot when put with Colin. Maybe partially bonded? Both did better together.
Heidi - Boxer?/pit mix 3 years 53# SPAYED female. owner diagnosed with terminal illness. Very strong, happy, wiggle worm, big tail wags, needs some leash manners. Treat motivated. Knows sit.
Bonnie - Pit/lab female 58# and 2-3 years old. Very energetic and strong. Bouncy. Very food motivated. Knows sit.
Bastian - Pit/border collie mix male 53# 2-3 years. Happy wiggly boy! Cute underbite. Enjoys attention.
Melody - Shepherd/lab mix female 46# 3-5 years old. Curious, loving, enjoys attention, gives lots of kisses!
Grumpy – German Shorthair Pointer mix, black/white, male, 2y, 56lbs. SUSPECTED HOUSEBROKEN. Don't let the name fool you - there is nothing grumpy about this guy! Grumpy is a high-energy, strong, extroverted, thoroughly playful boy who is bursting with enthusiasm and ready to share it with anyone willing to keep up. He's a lot of dog in the very best way! Grumpy appears overall healthy; as a note of interest, he's a squatter instead of a leg-lifter. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender with no particular reason given.
Daisy - Lab mix, black with a few white toes, female, 9-12 months, 42lbs. Daisy is a sweet, submissive, wonderfully friendly girl who pulled out all the stops for us today - full of both wags and zoomies when the mood struck. 😄 She's a happy, playful pup who deserves so much better than losing her home over a landlord dispute – she was originally adopted from the shelter as a young pup and, sadly, has now found herself back there. Daisy appears overall healthy. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender. (Pardon the random white hairs all over her face in the photos – the dog in the yard before her was blowing her coat!)
Ada - Retriever, black, female, 2-4y, 39lbs. Ada is a delightful girl with a sweet, happy energy that's impossible not to respond to - she practically prances when she moves, loves a good belly rub, and radiates the kind of contented friendliness that makes her a total joy to be around. Plus her muppet-tufted ears are super cute! Truly a sunshine dog, smart and observant. Shelter staff reports she even knows a few tricks and prefers to keep her kennel very clean. Ada appears overall healthy. She came to the shelter as a stray.
Rosalind - Poodle mix, tan, female, 3-5y, 45lbs. Rosalind is a calm, sweet, accommodating girl with a lovely lowkey temperament and beautiful leash manners to match. She's the kind of easygoing, friendly dog who very much goes with the flow - a pleasant companion through and through! Rosalind appears overall healthy. She came to the shelter as a stray.
