Barbecue was reportedly found on Barbecue Church Rd in Harnett County. It was later determined that the location information provided at intake was inaccurate (thatās why he is at the Lee Co. Animal Shelter even though found in Harnett County.).
Yes, he is heartworm positive ā but this is treatable. Many rescues are willing to step in when there are pledges to help offset medical costs AND they have a committed foster.
He needs:

UPDATE. Lee County NCĀ - It has been confirmed that 2 more cats were trapped in Lee County by Animal Control due to resident request.Ā And apparently one of them needed the box that Hermie was hiding in.Ā So Hermie was euthanized to make room.Ā The other two cats in boxes, plus at least one of the new cats today, are SpongeBob and Odwalla.Ā They don't have many boxes, so Hermie apparently out-stayed his welcome, although clearly he did not want to be there living in a small box in a small cage. Sanctuaries, and ethically-run barns are the aim for ferals and the frightened here, though adoption is possible.Ā For example, Odwalla is shy and scared though not considered feral. But she needs her box for security and boxes are in short supply, Please share, and please help if you can. Ā Cathy
