We are seeking placement for three adorable kittens, approximately 6 weeks old, (2 females, 1 male) who are currently in our care and in need of a 501(c)(3) rescue.
These kittens are eating dry kitten food very well, are social, cuddly, and thriving. They would typically be headed to our adoption floor; however, they have tested positive for FIV.
Given their very young age, it is highly likely that these results are due to maternal antibodies passed from their mother rather than true infection. As many of you know, kittens can test positive for several months because of maternal antibodies, and retesting at 4–6 months of age often yields a negative result. Unfortunately, our shelter is unable to hold them for that length of time to determine their final status.
Because of this unique circumstance, we are reaching out to rescue organizations for assistance. We do not routinely offer FIV-positive kittens to rescue, so this opportunity will have a short deadline.
These little ones deserve the chance to grow up in a foster home where they can continue to receive care and be reevaluated when they are older.
If your rescue is able to help, please contact us as soon as possible. We are seeking a rescue commitment no later than Monday, June 8th.
Thank you for your consideration and for all you do for animals in need.
