Subject: Your Chance to Rescue Pickles is Here! - Baltimore, MD
- Rescue Needed -

Pickles - unaltered male, 3yo, 71.8lbs

Pickles was brought in as a stray on 2/21.

When his finder attempted to remove a chain from him, Pickles became increasingly uncomfortable. Staff repeatedly asked the finder to stop, as Pickles was clearly showing stress; yelping, whale eyes, and escalating body language. When the attempts continued, he vocalized and lunged toward the man in what appeared to be a clear warning.

As he settles in, we’re seeing a nervous but workable boy. Cheese is absolutely the way to his heart, and he relaxes noticeably once he’s outside on a walk.

During his dog assessment, Pickles initially presented wide-eyed with ears back and wobbly mid-level wags. He engaged in sniffing and bouncy play but can become pushy and vocal. With certain males, he displayed persistent chin-over and mounting behaviors, with frustration building if not redirected. He required heavy handler guidance at times but was able to disengage with structured support and continued introductions. He bounced nicely with a puppy and showed the ability to read cues from older, well-socialized dogs. Interactions with females appeared more appropriate.

He appears healthy. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.
