Subject: Rescue Placement Request for Rory – 8-Month-Old Female in Foster
Hello Rescue Partners,We are reaching out regarding Rory, an 8‑month‑old female who has been in a foster home since 06/05/26. We are now seeking rescue placement for her and hope one of our partners may be able to assist.
Please review the foster notes below for more insight into Rory’s behavior, needs, and overall temperament while in their care."Rory is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loves people. She is very much a Velcro dog who wants to be close to her person and thrives on human companionship. She has done very well living with my resident male dog and has been respectful of my resident cats. She has shown no signs of resource guarding or food aggression. She has a wonderful relationship with my 9-year-old daughter and is affectionate, gentle, and loving with her. However, now that she has settled into my home and become more comfortable, she has begun displaying concerning reactivity toward unfamiliar dogs. On walks, she is extremely alert and constantly scans her surroundings. As soon as she notices another dog, she becomes fixated and will bark and lunge.I recently took her to her first adoption event. Initially, she was able to greet two female dogs appropriately, but her behavior escalated and she began barking and reacting aggressively enough that I felt it was safest to leave the event early.Outside of the adoption event, I have seen mixed interactions. She met my sister's male boxer dog and after some initial barking, she was able to interact and play appropriately. However, on another occasion, a small off-leash dog ran into my yard and approached Rory. Rory attempted to nip at the dog, and I had to physically lift her by her harness to prevent contact.Because her reactions vary depending on the situation, I believe she would benefit from professional behavioral assessment and training. I do not feel that I have the experience or qualifications to safely work through this level of reactivity. I am concerned that continuing to expose her to situations beyond my ability to manage could set her up for failure.I truly believe Rory has the potential to succeed in the right environment. She has already shown she is capable of growth and improvement. She came to me needing medical support and weight gain, and with consistency, routine, and care she has made incredible progress. She is such a loving, people-oriented pup with so many wonderful qualities. I would love to see her placed with a rescue that has the behavioral resources and training experience to help her reach that potential. "If anyone is interested in helping place Rory, please email us at your earliest convenience.Thank you for your continued support and partnership.Warm regards,
