I've been feeling just like the rest of you, and it really hit me when
my mom said, "and you can go and work out at the club this afternoon."
Club. My family is fortunate enough to belong to a club when in Peru
cooking oil is extremely expensive for many people. Which brings up
and idea of mine...my host child Julio mentioned that their family's
cooking oil was stolen just a day or two before. What if we sent down
clothes, as Matt suggested, but also cooking oil to the churches we
were at for them to distribute to the people in their areas for free?
Of course we would have to put a lot of cash into this, and we might
have some trouble with security in the airports, but I think we could
pull it off. Let me know what you think!

I love the clothes idea! I think that would help a lot. One thing that
I always notice when I'm in Latin America is that they take pride in
their appearance, but many don't have enough to wear so they have to
wear the same thing day after day.
I like the cooking oil idea, but we also need to keep in mind that we
have to work though compassion on what we decide to do. I know sending
money seems so empty, but I think it would work better if we sent
money though compassion specifically for the work site to buy cooking
oil and distribute it in the area. Think that would work?

Absolutely that would work, especially because the cooking oil may be
cheaper down there than it is here. Anybody else have any suggestions
as to how we can pull either of these or any other ideas together?

I think that your ideas sound great and that it would be good to go
through Compassion. The program will help to make sure that the money
goes where it needs to because they can help the people shop.
